Blushing Bride

Tonight was the kick off to our study of the book "From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife" by Marla Taviano.

We are a group of 13 girls. Three were not able to make it due to sickness. One of those three is in the hospital with pneumonia.:(

We meet on the late side, (8:15pm) so that the majority of us can help our hubbys get our kids in bed. I told everyone to dress comfortably since it's late. That's why most of us are wearing sweats in the pictures at the end. I wanted to be sure everyone felt relaxed.

Since Valentines Day was just the day before and also because the book is titled Blushing Bride, I decided I to run with the whole pink and hearts theme.

I knew it would be too hard to have the house clean, the kids fed, fancy snacks made all by myself, before my hubby got home from work and before my guest arrived so I just decided to be kind to myself and make easy snacks!

My menu consisted of cherry limeade punch, chocolate covered everything, pretzel sticks, reg. pretzels, marshmallows, Milano cookies and pound cake.

I also made everyone their own brown bag of popcorn and gave them the choice of chili lime seasoning or butter.

We all sat in the living room and shared about ourselves, our families, where we spent our honeymoons and talked about marital issues that we all face. Most of us knew eachother but not all of us know eachother well. There was a lot of great conversation and it was all sparked from the first two chapters of the book.

Marla is such a talented writer. She talks about things in the book that you would with a girlfriend and she says what you want to say but are too afraid to! I am so thankful for her transparent style of writing. It knocked down so many walls that we had built up right from the start. Most of all she loves the Lord and brings you to the truths found in His word.

Marla if you see this-thank you so much for the books! Our marriages thank you too! Blessings to you and your family.

I truly believe all 13 of us girls, who stick out the next 6 weeks, will walk away with enriched marriages and better friendships!

I'm excited! I had fun tonight!

Would like to say more but it's 1:43AM-tomorrow morning is going to be painful!

Suzi, I can't tell you how thrilling this is to me. Just goes to show you how God can take discouragement/failure (talking about me here) and turn it into something so incredible. Bless you for doing this! You've REALLY touched my heart. I'm praying for that beautiful group of women!!

Sounds like a wonderful book - I'll have to check it out. And you did a beautiful job with the snacks for making "easy" ones. It looks delicious!

Aww i'm so glad Marla!

They were SO easy Alenna! The only thing cooked was that pound cake other than that it was just dip dip dip! It didn't take long at all.:)

Jenna it would be awesome if you could have worked it out. Glad you are enjoying the book!! You are missed!
